HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?

In 2009, I became a freelance wardrobe style for personal clients and a campaign stylist. Back then I also started on-camera hosting. My hosting agent told me I needed a niche and I told him about my styling. It was then, I turned my personal website into a blog. Two years later in 2011, I started doing outfit posts and the rest is history.

Is blogging your full time job?

Not anymore. I’m a full time actress and writer who maintains my blog and social media part-time.

WHEN DID YOU START ACTING?

I’ve always loved acting and television. When I was a kid, I was obsessed with sitcoms. I watched way too much television and knew then that I wanted to one day be on TV. But, I was also the first person in my immediately family to go to college and as a first-generation American, I felt I had to get “a real job.” It wasn’t until I turned 30, that I seriously started pursuing acting. I had been in LA for 3 years and I was ready to take the plunge!

Any advice on how to get started?

Similar to my advice on blogging, if you want to be an actor then you need to just do it! What I mean by that is, get into acting classes, audition for plays in your town, find other actors and creatives and make a web series. Be active in launching your career. Acting careers take time. No one is an over night success. They may seem like one when they land a hit tv show or film but 99% of those people have been acting for at least 10 years before they “hit it big.” Plus, so many actors are simply “working actors” which is amazing! They may not be famous but they make a living doing what they love!
